•    The week so far

It’s been a good week so far. Two days at the Other Job and a chat with my supervisor about taking more courses. I’m off on a couple of them in the next couple of months, I’ll keep you posted. I’ve also signed up for a couple of other courses to get my word-processing skills back up to scratch. I can type like a demon but it’s been a while since I’ve used Excel, Powepoint and all that jazz so my Microsoft Office skills need to be up to par.

The job search continues. I’ve signed up to all the websites I can think of and my CV is now up to date. I don’t expect to find a job in the next couple of months, or even this side of Christmas, but I’m enjoying the experience of looking believe it or not.

After a booking at Earl’s Court yesterday I had a late lunch with Warrior Amy who was passing through the area after a successful tour of Guernsey. We went to our favourite spot at Victoria Stn, YoSushi, where we enjoyed 40% off our meals (seriously, you have to sign up for their offers). There wasn’t much I didn’t have. As usual the time we spent catching up flew by and I had to get back to Croydon before the evening mass got too much and she had another appointment to keep. But not before I roped her into coming with me to see Driving Miss Daisy at the Wyndham Theatre in Covent Garden when she’s back in London in a couple of weeks time. James Earl Jones and Boyd Gaines (who plays the son) was on BBC Breakfast on Monday and I thought I just had to see the play. Vanessa Redgrave plays the eponymous Miss Daisy. This is the same cast that played to sold out theatres on Broadway. I booked the tickets last night and I’m really looking forward to it. We’ll start off with dinner at….KFC. I don’t know, don’t ask me. Amy has a thing for KFC and she doesn’t get it very often, so that’s our pre-show dinner sorted. Dessert will be the Baskin Robbins in Leicester Square. What can I say, she’s a cheap date and I’m easy to please, lol. It’s all just a pre-cursor to seeing one of my favourite actors of all time so I’m a happy bunny. I would’ve gone on my own – I’ve been to plays before on my own; in fact, the last time I went it was to see Art with George Wendt (Norm in Cheers) and Joe Morton (the Black guy in Terminator 2), that was also at the Wyndham Theatre. Jeez, that’s going back a few years back. But it’s good to be going with somebody what likes a bit of culture like I do. :-)

There’s room for one more tomorrow afternoon after 2pm if anybody’s interested. Remember I’m still taking bookings for Glasgow. Did I mention it was my last ever tour? Drop me a line or give me a call.
