This morning I’m just catching up with the season premiere of Oprah’s Farewell Season. The first show of her last season orginally showed here in the UK at the beginning of January, but if you remember I was away in the West Indies for my uncle’s funeral, so I missed the first week. I’m glad to be finally watching it and seeing her suprise her guests with the trip to Australia. I was actually living in the States when I saw her very first show in 1986. I’m glad I was there at the beginning and I’m happy to be here at the end. There’s not many that I respect and admire, but for what she’s achieved Oprah will always be an icon to me. I don’t mind telling you I’m shedding a tear watching all the old clips.

Also tonight is the last of Monk, a cop show with a bit of a slant. For those who don’t know, Monk is about a former detective who fell to pieces when a car bomb killed his wife and had his badge taken away from him because it was felt that he was no longer fit to be a policeman. He also suffers from Obsessive Complusive Disorder – he has a small vacuum cleaner to keep his regular vacuum cleaner clean, his food can’t touch each other and you can’t have uneven numbers of anything to name a few phobias. Again, the last two episodes are tonight and again, the phones will be off and if there is a Second Coming I’ll just have to miss it. Tonight, after 12 years, he’s supposed to finally find out who killed his wife. The dinner dishes are in danger of crusting over.
Last but not least, Law and Order US is also coming to an end soon. As I understand it, the 21st season is being showed in the US at the moment. We get it here on Sky One, so I’ll shed a tear when that last episode airs. The good thing is that at least I’m watching it on FX right now from the very beginning.
There’ll be nothing like any of these shows again, although I’m hoping Oprah’s new tv network will find its way on to UK tv some time in the near future. In the meantime, I’m hoping that watching repeats will be enough. It’s gonna be a sad couple of days.
I’m gutted, all my telly shows are coming to an end.
