Just watching BBC Breakfast News this morning and an item came on about a singer going on tour with his band whose guitar was broken by United Airlines baggage handlers. Apparently he’d tried to complain and get some sort of compensation for his guitar but United stood their ground and said no, he wasn’t entitled to anything. So what did Dave Carroll the singer do? Why, composed a song about his year long experience with United and put it on YouTube of course.
The irony is that it’s become an instant hit on YouTube (the band’s first) and it has effectively wiped £180m off United Airline’s share prices. Yep, you heard me, £180million. And all they had to do was replace the man’s guitar. That’ll teach them not to listen to the little man, the all important consumer. Brilliant stuff:
Here’s one in the eye for Goliath.
